Best Drugstore Hair Color

Choosing a Haircolor

If you want to dye your hair at home here is the best way to choose your color according to Family Circle Magazine:

The trick to natural looking results whether you are going lighter or darker – is to stay within two shades of your own color. To get the best match bring a picture of yourself with you to the store. Your real shade on paper will give you the most accurate information. Read the color guide on the back of the box for info. Don’t go by the image of the model on the front – you have no idea what color her hair was originally.

Castile Soap for Shampoo

Inexpensive Sulfate Free Shampoo

Sulfate free shampoos are the latest trends in shampoos. SLS and SLFS (sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate) act as a foaming agent in soaps, shampoos, toothpastes, dishwashing liquid and just about anything that produces a foamy lather. The biggest complaint about shampoos containing sulfates is that they can strip hair color and the natural oils out of your hair. Overtime, this causes hair breakage and hair loss, especially when combined with other harmful chemicals. If your hair is relaxed or colored, it is already fragile and the last thing you want is a shampoo that is going to damage it even more. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is also known to cause skin rashes, hair loss, scalp scurf (similar to dandruff) and other allergic reactions.

Humid Climate Hair Care Tips

Repair Hair Color with Catsup

1. Wash your scalp only, then rinse. The suds will run down the length of your hair, gently cleansing without drying it out.

2. Never shampoo before swimming as this strips away your protective oils leaving hair vulnerable to drying chemicals and salt.

3. If your hair is fine look for shampoo with a clear formula Creamy shampoos are more moisturizing but can weigh down fine hair.

4. Quench parched locks – Blend 1/2 avocado with 2 tablespoons olive oil; apply the mixture to your hair, and rinse after 20 minutes.
