Happiness Research – Best Buy for Happiness

Happiness is Being

Health Magazine reports a new study reveals that if you are going to spend money, spending it on a day at the beach or a night out with friends rather than a new handbag is much better for your health. The research presented at the annual meeting of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, show that the handbag is likely to lose its appeal much more quickly than the happy memories of get-togethers.

Cheap Natural Cold Remedies

Common Cold Remedies

Here are some cheap ways to cure the common cold that have been proven to work:

Neti Pots - Doctors and studies agree on this one: Rinsing out your sinuses with saline solution (or salt water) can drain nasal passages and keep your breathing clear. You can purchase Neti Pots at local drug stores.

Chicken soup – A not yet identified ingredient seems to ease upper-respiratory symptoms caused by colds. Even canned soup works.

Zinc – Numerous studies show that when taken early in a cold, zinc can keep the virus from replicating, reducing the time you’re sick by 50 %. Try to take 13 to 25 mg per day.

Recyle Reuse

Ways to Recycle

Got some great tips from Woman’s Day Magazine plus some of my own on recycling common household items. When you recycle household items you save money and the earth at the same time. A great thing to do and make you feel good about being an upstanding citizen of the planet Earth.

Old sheets and pillow cases - Fold them almost in half, leaving a top flap. Stitch up sides and use them to store blankets, comforters and pillows  dust-free. I use old sheets to protect my car seats and trunk when I am transporting plants from the nursery and also put them over plants in my yard to protect them from freezes.
