A survey of many of the blogs indicates that Costco, Sams and Target have some of the best prices. Many bloggers mentioned Target will also match competitors prices if you bring in the ad.
Pay close attention to the ads that different retailers are running. There are some pretty good ads from every retailer if you watch the paper and the online coupon sites. For instance, our Kroger offered an online coupon you could load onto to your Kroger card which gave you $2.00 off if you purchased a $5 or more bag of candy.

I think that I found about homemade taco seasoning mix one night when I was going to make tacos but had forgotten to buy the seasoning mix. I was surprised at how easy it is to make your own. Another benefit to making your own is you have control over the ingredients These homemade taco seasoning mixes are all msg free recipes. For those of you with milk allergies, did you know that many taco seasonings have lactose, milk sugar, in them?)
I recently attended a “Garden Faire” and received some very helpful information from an organization called CleanWaterways.org.
They were handing out a brochure full of homemade recipes for cleaning products. The reason they provided the free recipes was that many household cleaning products contain hazardous chemicals. When disposed of improperly (storm drain, sink or garbage) the chemicals can end up in local water bodies of ground water.
These free recipes are great for cheapskaters as they all use very inexpensive ingredients and do not hurt our environment.
According to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, a third of a home’s energy is lost through its windows and doors-and that’s when they are closed. Instead of replacing them, save money and energy by insulating with weather-stripping.
The easiest way to check for air leaks is using a piece of
paper. Open the front door, put the piece of paper in the doorjamb, and close the door. If you can pull the paper out easily, there’s an air leak. Try the same thing on the windows.
