BPA Free Bottles

I always used to refill my plastic water bottles to save money. I learned today not all bottles should be reused for safety reasons. The numbers on the bottoms of plastic bottles are taken from the SPI Resin Identification Codes, which identify the type of plastic a product is made from and whether it can be recycled. The numbers also will tell you which plastic bottles are safe to reuse. According to the article I read the safest plastic bottles to reuse are bottles with the numbers 2 and 4.

Avoid reusing containers that have a number 7, some forms of which contain a chemical called bisphonel-A also called BPA.  New research indicates that people who accumulate hhigh levels of this chemical may be more vulnerable to cardiovascular disease and diabetes.  It is also a problem for pregnant or soon to be pregnant women and for growing children. So while it is good to reuse and recycle make sure you don’t endanger your health.
