We all know that the big SUV’s that area all the rage these days are gas guzzlers compared to smaller cars. Do you really need a Hummer? Really? Well the same is true for large, flat screen TVs that line the back walls of many stores these days. I do not mean that they are gas guzzlers, or course, but they do use a lot more power than modestly sized TV sets. So do you really need a giant tv?

The Christain Science Monitor publised a surprising article: As TVs grow, so do Electric Bills!

One thing about the new flat screen TV is that the resolution is so clear that you may be very surprised how well you can see a smaller tv! In fact, I replaced an old fashioned 23 inch set with a 19 inch flat screen, and we all think it is much clearer. Resolution is so good these days that the kids, and many adults, are watching videos on their MP3 player screens, which are smaller than matchbooks! And when I took my turn on the little, itsy bitsy player, I was very surprised to find that I could view that with no trouble at all!

But what we are also finding is that energy consumption fluctuates wildly between different models of large screen TV sets, and if you just have to have one, or if you are buying one for a business that requires one, please do a little research before shopping.
